ENST 1301 Intro to Environmental Studies: (Vincentnathan) An introduction to environment-human interactions; an integrated overview of various perspectives mainly from the social sciences and humanities. A course for all majors covering knowledge and concepts about environmental topics, challenges, and solutions. NEW

ENG 1302 Rhetoric & Composition II: (Herweck & Escamilla sections only) environmental reading & writing. Meets Core requirement.

GEOL 1401 Physical Geology: comprehensive introduction to the origin, structure, materials and processes of the earth; plate tectonics, the rock cycle, landscape evolution, volcanoes, earthquakes, and tsunamis. Meets Core.

BIOL 2406 Environmental Biology (Dirrigl): Intro to ecology, environmental problems, human impact, and solutions. The interaction of humans and the environment, ecosystems, biotic and abiotic components of the environment, population dynamics and sustainability, energy flow, toxicology, waste production, waste disposal, and pollution.

HIST 3303 Geography & Environment (Adair): the effect of the environment and geography on history; how humanity has reacted to the environment and influenced ecosystems, and how different cultures have interacted with similar environments; trade routes, the effects of disease, the connections between resources & the rise of civilizations & empires.

POLS 3319 Environmental Policy (Temby): Examination of the public debate over environmental protection and groups engaged in environmental process; development and formation of environmental policy. Specific environmental policies will be examined to include the politics and processes of regulatory decision making and their consequences for the environment.

ENSC 3401 Environmental Regulations and Environmental Impact Assessment (Dirrigl): An overview of state and federal environmental agencies, laws, and regulations. The practical consequences of these law and regulations are demonstrated through case studies. Students gain experience in preparing environmental impact statements. Prereq ENSC 3400

PUBA 4363/6307 The Politics of Scarcity (Atisa): examination of major policy issues & theories involved in poverty, declining natural resources, arable land, water and inadequate food supplies; amidst government financial shortfalls, increasing population & threatened environment.

MGMT 4362 Business & Sustainability (Kaynak): Sustainability and sustainable business models. All three aspects of sustainability – economic, social and environmental – are emphasized. The goal is to educate students on how businesses can integrate the three aspects of sustainability and incorporate them into strategy and operations. * ELEE 4373 Renewable Energy (Ramos) prereqs in ELEE
